A sneak peek at the new Klout redesign

Klout, the tool regarded as the standard in measuring a user’s impact on their Twitter network, has just released a beta version of its upcoming redesign with the goal of creating a more engaging environment for users to gauge their personal influence.

The layout changes are quite obvious. It has a much cleaner interface, which I personally think is an improvement over the old Klout. It’s much easier to understand and navigate as it manages to fit everything in a single page.

Aside from the aesthetic changes, Klout is also introducting a new meritocracy system called Klout Perks. The perk going on right now is a partnership between Klout and Bottlenotes to give key influencers VIP tickets to an extra exclusive event: Around the World in 80 Sips, with special access to a crowd-free hour and 12 special wines.

It mentions at the bottom a disclaimer, or “Influencer Code of Ethics” stating:

  • Participating (or not participating) will not change your Klout Score.
  • If you accept the offer you are not required to do anything. We do not want to “buy” your tweets. You are receiving the product because you are influential and have authority on topics related to the product. This is a more targeted form of receiving a sample while shopping at the grocery store. You are welcome to tell the world you love the product, you hate the product or say nothing at all.
  • If you decide to talk about the product we will ask you to disclose that you received a sample.

Here is a short video interview with Klout creator, Joe Fernandez, from The Wall Street Journal about the new Klout redesign:
