What’s the best way to land an interview? Make sure you have a targeted approach to your job search. “Don't apply to 30 different jobs” within the same organization, says PepsiCo Talent Acquisition leader Lisa Ashworth. “Find the jobs that really match your skills and then also what you want to do.” How do you decide which roles to apply to? How can you be confident about your career choice? “Have a strong hypothesis about what you want to do and test it,” suggests Harvard Business School Professor Joseph Fuller. Take an internship or entry-level role in your potential job field and ask current employees questions like “What's the hardest thing in your job?" “If those things don't sound encouraging to you, that's a gift from God called disconfirming data,” says Fuller. LinkedIn News just launched our annual Guide to Kickstarting Your Career https://lnkd.in/2024careerstartersguide, revealing the fastest growing jobs, industries and cities for entry-level professionals. Confidence vs humble confidence – which will get you further? AG1 President Kat Cole believes it’s the *humble confidence* that will lead you toward the most success. “‘I don’t know that I know everything, but I know we can figure it out,’” she said. “It’s that humble confidence, not a bravado or machismo.” LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky agrees. “That’s the key…not being afraid to ask for help but also being confident enough in yourself to take risks and to innovate.” Listen to Kat's episode of #ThePath podcast: https://lnkd.in/gus4r-q7 Check out our annual Guide to Kickstarting Your Career (https://lnkd.in/2024careerstartersguide) revealing the fastest growing jobs, industries and cities for entry-level professionals. This is the ultimate cover letter trick 👇 Do something that stimulates passion *before* you start writing. This way, the passion translates naturally. For example, Wildlife Crime Scientist Monique Sosnowski turns on wildlife conservation, or wildlife crime-related, documentaries to help her get excited about her field. She says when she turns back to her laptop, she “feels that passion come through onto the page.” Try this and let us know how it goes in the comments. “Growing up, our focus was to assimilate and be like all Americans.” As Jennifer Liao and her MìLà co-founder built their soup dumplings company, she says they did a lot of introspection on what their culture meant to them. “It has been amazing to be able to reflect on our journey and embrace who we are as individuals.” Founded during the pandemic, Liao grew up eating soup dumplings and says many people consider them “a treat.” She said she loves that now, they can be enjoyed at home with friends and family. “There are Chinese customers. They get to recapture the nostalgia of what they had from their hometown,” she says. “There are people who have never had Chinese food and they are able to try our food.” She has a very tasty goal: Share soup dumplings with as many people as possible.
